Midnight Mass: Midnight Mass from St Chad’s Cathedral, Birmingham

The traditional first mass of Christmas, with a service live from St Chad’s Cathedral in the heart of Birmingham. The celebrant and preacher is the Archbishop of Birmingham, the Most Reverend Bernard Longley. Music includes popular carols O Come, All Ye Faithful and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. The cathedral choir sings Richard Causton’s haunting Cradle Song and the Christmas motet Tui sunt caeli by Lassus.

Live coverage of midnight mass attended by various dignitries from the church airs every Christmas Eve on the BBC.
