Love Your Garden : Grow Your Own | ITV 15 March 2022

Love Your Garden : Grow Your Own | ITV 15

Alan Titchmarsh is taking on his biggest garden project yet. For four months he’s challenging himself to grow more food in his own garden than he’s ever done before. Inspired by the nation’s newfound love of growing your own, Alan is letting the cameras follow him across the seasons as he transforms his bare backyard into a stunning kitchen garden, filled with over 60 varieties of delicious produce. Joining Alan in his grow your own challenge is Kate Garraway, creating her first health and well-being garden to suit the changing needs of her family. And to prove that even a small space in a challenging location can become a stunning fruit and veg garden, Love Your Garden presenter Frances Tophill will attempt to create a stunning kitchen garden just metres from the Devon coast.

Filmed across the seasons from spring until harvest time, we will see Alan, Kate and Frances battling terrible weather and failing crops as they attempt to design, plant and nurture three very different fruit and veg gardens. Alan’s garden is all about fresh produce and we will see him grow classic crops like new potatoes and carrots from seed into juicy, delicious produce bursting out of the ground. Alan will also try out unusual new crops like yard longs beans, watermelon radishes and pear-shaped tomatoes with varying degrees of success.

In London, Kate visits Kew gardens where she learns about the medicinal benefits of plants, inspired in her own garden to create a border of plants filled with antioxidant benefits, a separate tea garden and an aromatherapy garden. Growing four types of mint and swathes of lavender, she’s inspired to create her own herbal teas and room spray.

Meanwhile in Devon, Frances is braving flooding, salt spray and high winds to create a garden that cleverly mixes produce with beautiful perennials. Growing superfood goji berries and saltwater samphire alongside grasses and pastel-coloured flowers.

Finally, after months of hard work, the stunning finished gardens are revealed. but will Alan be rewarded with a garden bursting with delicious fresh produce? Can Kate deliver a stunning scented garden for husband Derek? and can Frances transform her muddy patch into a coastal paradise?
