Series 5 Episode 7: For over four years, Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer have put their property prowess to good use, helping couples all over the nation who are tired of their endless debates over whether to love or list their homes. Now, Kirstie and Phil get the chance to head back and see how our clashing couples have got on since they helped them make their decisions. In this episode, Phil catches up with Kathleen and Tom, who chose to love their home back in 2016.
Their three-bed Victorian terrace in Gosforth, Newcastle had been the bone of contention for four years. They were originally attracted to its character and location, just ten minutes from the city centre. But the lack of outdoor space, parking and storage soon became a problem for Tom and his four boats, five canoes and five bikes. Phil showed them three amazing houses, but Kirstie’s plan to re-jig their downstairs layout won them over to team love it. Three years later, Phil’s back to find out how they are getting on. But he’s not visiting them in their old Gosforth terrace.
Kathleen and Tom’s lives are now radically different, with lots of extra space for them, their daughters and Tom’s sporting paraphernalia, both inside and out, in a new home. So, has Tom finally won the battle between town and country, and are they both still glad Kirstie and Phil helped them rethink how and where they live?
