The team restore an automaton, some ceramic doves and a mining helmet

Jay Blades and his team meet John and his daughter Jo who bring them a wooden automaton made 156 years ago by their much loved Uncle Bob while he was in enforced quarantine after contracting smallpox. Helen brings in a pair of ceramic doves for Kirsten to take under her wing. Originally bought in Vallauris, France by her grandfather, they’re thought to be based on the work of Picasso. One of the barn’s newest experts Angelina Bakalarou is tasked with fixing a mining helmet made from compressed paper used by a Welsh colliery worker during his 51-year career down the mines. Current owner Ceri cherishes the helmet as a reminder of his grandfather who started working as a miner at just 14 years-old
