When a business magnate, his wife and their maid are murdered, Miss Marple (Julia McKenzie) is prompted by the circumstances surrounding the incidents to recall the nursery rhyme Sing a Song of Sixpence. She discovers the victims were part of a family tainted by secrets, and as she ponders the significance of the tune, a past scandal reveals itself. Murder mystery, featuring Wendy Richard as feisty cook Mrs Crump, in her final dramatic role. Other guest stars include Prunella Scales, Matthew Macfadyen, Ralf Little, Rupert Graves and Helen Baxendale

Laura and Rosemary are asked to restore an ornate water garden cascade in the grounds of a health spa, where they are invited to join owner Frances Caldecott and her children for dinner. That evening, the duo discover Frances has been strangled and her jewellery stolen, and set out to catch the culprit. Drama, starring Felicity Kendal and Pam Ferris

The duo are hired to cure a patchy lawn at a select language school hiding dark secrets. The members of an Oxford old boys’ cricket team gather for their annual match, unaware that death is waiting at the crease to bowl one of them out for good. John Thaw, Kevin Whately and Sharon Maughan star in an episode scripted by Oscar-winning director Anthony Minghella

The Real `Des”: The Dennis Nilsen Story

Documentary exploring the personality of the serial killer

Following on from the three-part drama about the serial killer Dennis Nilsen, this documentary explores the personality of the man behind the crimes – on the surface a mild-mannered civil servant who admitted to murdering up to 15 young men over a four-year period in the late 1980s and early 1980s, disposing of their bodies in the garden and down the drain. The film includes footage of an interview Nilsen gave to ITV at Albany Prison in 1992, contributions from victims’ families and insights from criminologist David Wilson, who corresponded with Nilsen over several decades. Narrated by David Tennant
